University of St. Thomas
The University of St. Thomas (www.stthom.edu), a private Catholic university committed to the liberal arts and to the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, is looking for a well qualified Assistant Director of Advancement Services & Donor Relations.  The University enrolls more than 3,200 students with more than 2,700 enrolled at its beautiful campus in Houston's Museum District.  

The Assistant Director of Advancement Services and Donor Relations will report to the Director of Advancement Services and Donor Relations.  The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Director to maintain a high level of responsiveness to the needs of the organization by providing necessary services and access to information for the purpose of fundraising and in support of capital campaigns.

The ideal candidate will design and generate queries from the donor relations database (PeopleSoft) to produce reports and mailings in support of fundraising activities and alumni relations and donor stewardship; work closely with the director in testing and helping with major and minor database upgrades; insure database integrity by developing audit reports for alumni and donor database and implement cleanup projects; serve as a resource in addressing Advancement database issues; train users in use of the database, both one-on-one and in groups.  The best fit will also work closely with gift processing staff to insure timely and proper receipting of the donation to the University and acknowledgement of the donors; coordinate functions of Advancement Services with other staff members in absence of the Director.  Additional duties include assisting the Director in production of routine prospect management reports; assisting with the production of annual donor stewardship reports; assist with the training of end users in new features and upgrades in the donor database; work with external vendors as assigned and other work assignments as delegated by the Director.

This position also requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience working in advancement services or fundraising operation as well as prior work experience in working with relational database.  You must have a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, experience working with query tools, preferably SQL, understanding of fundraising environment and the importance of accuracy and timeliness of data as well as importance of donor stewardship.  The ability to work with a team as well as independently and the ability to learn and gain knowledge of all aspects of donor database (PeopleSoft) is preferred.  Desired characteristics for the best fit include being a team player who engenders positive interactions among all constituents; self initiative and diligence; excellent attention to detail; strong communication skills and a good sense of humor.

Business Analyst - Fundraising Database Management (Raiser's Edge)
Ensures that the marketing/fundraising databases of The Methodist Hospital Foundation facilitate a strategic, integrated program of prospect identification, research and donor management in support of major fundraising campaigns. Responsible for oversight of the daily operations of the Foundation’s database, which tracks contributions, donor and prospect information. Manages the accuracy and integrity of systems, develops reports, oversees biographical and other data entry, provides end-user training and support, and drives improvement and enhancement of the database.  Candidate should possess 2-4 years related experience in database administration, fundraising, major fundraising database systems, electronic donor screening and segmenting initiatives, with preferred experience in Microsoft Professional tools, Crystal Reports and Raiser's Edge.

Office of Development

The Office of Development is looking for a Development Research Associate. This position under the leadership of the Director of Prospect Research will assist in researching and qualifying potential donors by producing comprehensive reports on individuals, corporations and foundations. They must be able to conduct independent research to identify new prospective donors and must be able to contribute information to and assist in maintain confidential donor base.

The candidate must have a combination of one to three years of experience in prospect research. Also, at least three years of experience using online information resources. Must demonstrate proficiency in data collection, verification and analysis. The candidate must be able to demonstrate ability to prioritize among a variety of tasks and simultaneously monitor and maintain multiple projects. Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications are essential. Excellent verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal communication skills are a must. Must be able to meet deadlines and work as part of a team dedicated to responsive service. A bachelor’s degree is required.

Coordinator, Community Services & Development
Friends of the Houston Public Library and Houston Public Library Foundation


The primary responsibilities of the Coordinator will be to support the membership-driven Friends of the Houston Public Library, along with office, event and development support for the Houston Public Library Foundation.

Join a small team of professionals supporting the Houston Public Library in a 30-hour, part-time contract position with the possibility of joining the staff full-time in 2011.  Offices are currently in the Clayton Guest House in the Museum District with a move into our permanent home in the historic Julia Ideson Library across from City Hall in summer 2011.
